Editorial Policy

Freedom to Give publishes practical guidance for small nonprofits, school groups, clubs, community organizations, volunteer leaders and fundraising committees. Our goal is to help readers build fundraising, volunteer, event and donor systems that people can realistically participate in.

Accuracy and useful coverage

We aim to make factual claims accurate, specific and relevant to the decision at hand. Articles give readers a useful answer early, explain why a recommendation makes sense and account for practical limits such as time, budget, staffing and community capacity.

Examples, comparisons and calculations are included when they clarify a choice. Calculations state their assumptions and units so readers can adapt them. Generated illustrations or hypothetical scenarios are presented as examples, not as documented results.

Research and source selection

Research may draw on current information from nonprofit organizations, fundraising platforms, postal services, event providers, payment providers and other sources directly relevant to the topic. We prioritize primary and authoritative sources for changing facts, including prices, fees, quantities, turnaround times, software features, product specifications, rules and policies.

Sources should support the specific claim being made, not simply appear because they discuss a related subject. Relevant facts are attributed in the article when attribution helps readers understand where information came from or verify it themselves.

Evidence, evaluation and opinion

We separate researched explanation from editorial judgment. Opinions and recommendations should be grounded in clear reasoning, practical constraints and available evidence. When an article relies on documented firsthand testing, its conclusions are limited to what was actually tested or observed. Research-based product coverage is not presented as personal testing.

Services, costs and policies can change. Confirm important details with the relevant provider before committing funds, announcing a campaign or setting expectations for participants.

Corrections and reader feedback

We correct material factual errors when they are identified, especially mistakes that could significantly affect a reader’s understanding, budget, workflow or decision. We may also update wording to improve clarity or reflect new information.

To report a possible error, suggest a source or ask an editorial question, use the Freedom to Give contact page or email contact@freedomtogive.com. Include the article title, the passage in question and any supporting information that can help assess the issue.
